ARTISTIC & CULTURAL - THE COURTESAN
INSPIRES THE GENITALS, THE MIND, AND THE HEART
The Courtesan served the community of the nobility. She was often highly educated, and artistic. She was allowed to study, read, travel, and perform at a time period where wives were kept sheltered, and uneducated. This included the Hetearae of Ancient Greece, the Geishas of Ancient Japan, as well as the Courtesans of Medieval and Rennaisance Europe. (See film: Dangerous Beauty)
These women were the "stars" of their day. They set the fashions that other women copied. They were poets, singers, writers, politicos, and dancers. They wielded power & influence. They had patrons. They did not charge by the hour. A patron new that if he did not lavish her with money, and gifts that she would turn her attention elsewhere.
In some cultures, the men would pay court & homage to the Courtesan, and then contract with her for her upkeep and care. (See film: Gigi)
It was common knowledge that men married for social power and position. Their Courtesan was there to inspire their mind, and heart. Example: King Edward (Queen Victoria's son) had liasons with some of the most beautiful and famous women of that era. He would bring them to court and introduce them to his wife. He wanted her opinion and approval.
HEALING & SPIRITUAL - THE SACRED PROSTITUTE
INSPIRES THE GENITALS, THE MIND, THE HEART & THE SPIRIT; Heals the Life Force
The word Prostitute is from the Latin and means Pro-Stituare; To Stand In on Behalf of.
A secular prostitute would stand in on behalf of the wife, lover, or girlfriend; the absent, unwilling, or unavailable vulva. Or provide a desire for variety or experience.
A Sacred Prostitute would stand in on behalf of the divine. She was trained as a healer, sacred dancer, energy worker, and divine blessing.
In India she was called a Devidasi. In the Ancient MIddle East a Qadishtu. She was highly trained in what we might call the "Tantric Arts" of breath, energy, presence, and blessing.
Other names for her are Dakini, Tantrika, and Fire Woman.
There are tales going back 5000 years of men coming home from war and immediately going to the Temples so that they could be cleansed and transformed from the wounds of war to their spirit. Part of this process would be through touch and sexuality.
In some cultures young men would go to The Temple to be trained and initiated into the Arts of Love. So that they would be a divine lover for their wives.
The men would not pay the Sacred Prostitute directly, although he might give her a personal gift. What he would bring would be offerings to the temple.
THE HIDDEN MISTRESS:
INSPIRES THE GENITALS, THE HEART, and SOMETIMES THE MIND
The desire for variety of sexuality, as well as a longing to love more than one is common to many men and women.
In some ways The Mistress can be similar to The Courtesan in that it is often a longterm relationship. The man is a financial patron. Men who were/are wealthy enough to pay for the apartment and upkeep of a woman in addition to their wife, have a Mistress.
The man of wealth & power seeks something different than the prestige and security he receives from his wife. Depending on the man he may seek wit, challenge, greater sexual experience & adventurousness, passion, youth, and/or nurturance.
The men would usually pay for her room and board, clothes, and a stipend of cash. The agreement is to be available and on-call for him.
SEXUALLY AVAILABLE - THE PROSTITUTE - HOOKER - STREET WALKER - SEX WORKER INSPIRES THE GENITALS
A secular prostitute has traditionally been a woman who either enjoys sexual variety and diversity, enjoys servicing men, or has been forced to do so due to economic hardship, or entrapment.
The word Prostitute is from the Latin and means Pro-Stituare; To Stand In on Behalf of.
A secular prostitute would stand in on behalf of the wife, lover, or girlfriend; the absent, unwilling, or unavailable vulva. Or provide a desire for variety or experience.
Some secular prostitutes enjoy specializing or choose to specialize in:
- Dominating men (which may or may not include direct genital touch)
- Giving men anal sex
- Having genital sex
- Having anal sex
- Giving oral sex
- Giving massages that include a genital sexual release
In some cultures a young man would be taken to a secular prostitute to prove that he is a man. Some men would feel forced to do this, and uncomfortable with this exchange.
The men pay an hourly fee, and/or based on the type of sexual service.
SACRED COURTESAN: ARTISTIC, CULTURED, SPIRITUAL & HEALING
INSPIRES THE HEART, MIND, SPIRIT, AND BALANCING EROS
I teach an 8 month program called The SACRED Courtesan School for ALL women. It is about being the empowered divine feminine that catalyzes the best in men, women, and ourselves.
It is a training to bring healing to Eros - The Life Force. It includes the genitals but is not focused on them. Some women have used it to expand and deepen their profession as a sex worker. Many of the women use it to expand and deepen their own personal relationships.
I believe that each woman can be treated like a Queen, and can develop the capacity to call forth and sanctify The King in a man as High Priestesses of Love used to do.
May our soul lights & intimate lives shine,
Priestess
